History

The Waasse bantam is the rose-comb variety of the Belgium bantam.
Accept for the comb, these bantams are completely comparable to the Belgium bantam.

Probably this breed originated in the area 'Waasland' or 'Land van Waas', an area west of the city of Antwerp, close to border with The Netherlands. That's why the name Waasse bantam.

Since the mid '90 years the Waasse bantam is certified in the Netherlands.
However, they are extremely rare and unfortunately we hardly see these bantams.

Appearance (type and colour)

The Waasse bantam only differs in the comb from the Belgium bantam. The Waasse bantam has a rose-comb.
This makes the breed very attractive. There is hardly an entanglement with the popular Dutch bantam.

Characteristics and housing

Also on this subject we can be referred to the Belgium bantam. Waasse bantams are easily kept on a limited area. The cocks bear each other well if they have a run.
The breed is extremely rare and the number of breeders in the Netherlands and Belgium can probably be counted on one hand.
